Brown Bubbly Cola

The classic mainstay of the soda world are of the Brown Bubbly Class of cola.  Coke and Pepsi are the standouts of this bunch.  They are classic, sweet - yet cut the sweetness of other foods.

You can almost never go wrong with these. It seems that older people like Coke and younger crowds like Pepsi, this is not ALWAYS true but it's safe to plan your party purchases accordingly.

Brown Bubbly Colas go with any entree - surf and turf, to pasta or even vegetarian dishes.  The only thing brown bubbly does not go with is... fruity desserts!

Fruity desserts tend to be very gelatinous which does not go with the browness of the brown bubbly.  Serve brown bubbly with a rhubarb strawberry pie and your party is done.  You will be remembered as the worst host/ess ever.  This effect would be compounded if a brown bubbly is served with cherry Jello - if you ever do such a horrible thing do not show your avatar here.

After a meal served with Brown Bubbly, treat your guests to the unexpected brisk taste of a clear soda like 7UP to go with your fruity dessert.

Cold Caffeine Discrimination

Do you drink cola for the caffeine instead of coffee?

Do you have a soda first thing in the morning?  I'll admit I like having a Pepsi if I'm having a donut for breakfast or something really greasy.

I know Pepsi is full of sugar but it feels like the Pepsi CUTS the sugary donuts.  Another benefit is the bubbles seem to fill me up so I only want one donut.  If you've ever ordered a soda at a breakfast spot you know people look you up and down like you're a nut!

Well find comfort that you are not alone HERE! People are such hypocrites and won't think twice about having a hot coffee with TONS of sugar added but frown on having soda for breakfast!  I guess things are changing a little bit with the coolatta craze and iced coffees but that still doesn't change the anti-soda sentiment.

Keep on ordering/drinking!

Sprite Zero

I tried the Sprite Zero today!  I'm sad to say I was disappointed.

I was so ready to recommend this as a preferred date soda because it is clear but then I tasted it... bleh...

It has a weird taste to it, zero carbs, zero sugars but in the end the TASTE is what really counts.

TIP: First Date, First Cola

On a first date, don't get silly and drunk, save that for later on in the relationship!  Stick to sodas, but which one to choose, the market IS flooded with them - that's what I'm here for, to help guide you!

On a first date choose a clear colored soda!  You may be nervous and spill some on yourself and/or you date or his/her furniture or rug!  Do yourself a favor and only stick to clear sodas sparing yourself from any embarassment!

Even if you spill some it won't show!

I'm frustrated with Sprite Site

Things like this make me feel old and out of touch!  I just spent ten minutes trying to figure this out...

I went to this site http://www.sublymonal.com/ and I can't see anything, it says I have to download something which I do, I obey as the project would call it, the download is successful...

Going back to the site it still won't recognize that I have this thing!! very frustrating!

Why did you do this Ms. Cola?

Ms. Cola,

Why did you create your fantastic Cola blog all about soda, how to serve it, different types, menu ideas, great deals, etc?

Love,
Faithful Reader

The letter quoted above is fictitious, but the question is tensing the blogosphere.

In response I'd like to say that I've created this blog for FUN. I hope that this will be the next big thing, if you are a mover and shaker or just a nice reader feel free to comment or share link love.

I would also like this blog to eventually blossom into a money making gold mine. It would be great to make enough to subsidize my drinks (maybe $25 a week?).

Civilized Cola Drinkers

Civilized cola drinkers know there are colas for every occassion. There IS a protocol after all, a real cola lover would not serve any type of orange or fruity flavor with a tomato sauce meal!

Pizza is an exception, fruity soda MAY be served but use caution, pizza is a grey area in many respects because of the toppings.

When serving shells, lasagna, Chef Boyardee or any other type of tomato rich sauce err on the side of caution and treat your guests and family to a brown bubbly cola. I will take the liberty to suggest Pepsi or Coke.

There are perfect times to serve fruit flavors. A great time is unexpectedly the aperitif! Think prosciutto and melon... that mix of fruity flavor and salty food. Any chips, without salsa of course, would accompany your fruity soda wonderfully. Small salty bite canopies would also fit in well.

White wine should be served with fish, but what type of soda?! The choice is obvious, most fish dishes need the brisk fresh taste of a clear soda, Sierra Mist and Sprite are excellent fish dish choices!

Feel free to send in your queries and links, keep on drinking.
